Stay Under the Stars at Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground

In an part of the state where campgrounds tend to look like dried pastures--barren and very hot--the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground located, almost due east of the Contemporary resort is anomaly--a 750 acre of tall pines, white flowering bay trees and cypresses with Spanish moss.
There are more than 800 campsites arranged in several campgrounds.  There are more than 300 cabins ("moderate" resort category).  Cabins are available for rent and are completely furnished and fitted with all the comforts of home.
Scattered throughout the campgrounds are sporting facilities, including two tennis courts and many small playgrounds, basketball, tetherball and volleyball courts.  There's also riding stables with mellow horses, two swimming pools, a marina full of boats, a canoe livery, bikes and golf carts for rent and a scenic nature trail.
For the little ones, there's a pony farm and a barn that's home to the horses that pull the Magic Kingdom's Main Street trolleys.  The barn houses a small museum that celebrates horses and the cherished role they've played in Disney History.
There's two stores--the Settlement Trading Post and the Meadow Trading Post which have your necessities, a limited supply of groceries and souvenirs.
Don't forget about Pioneer Hall, the home of the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue dinner show.  Pioneer Hall is a rustic structure and also houses a popular buffet restaurant and a small lounge area.  Mickey's Backyard Bareque is offered here during busy times of the year.
